AI Assistant Setup
Connect Mari Yangu to ChatGPT, Codex, or another compatible AI assistant. Once connected, you can find expenses, check spending, update records, and build reports from a chat. Every request stays inside the workspace and permissions you approve.
Availability
AI assistant connections are open to all Mari Yangu accounts during the beta. Your workspace role controls which expense and report actions an assistant can use. You do not need a separate plan during the beta.
Setup
- Open the plugin or connector directory in your AI assistant.
- Select Mari Yangu and choose the option to connect your account.
- Sign in to Mari Yangu. If you have more than one workspace, pick the one the assistant should use.
- Review the requested permissions, then approve the connection.
Some clients ask for a server URL during setup. Use https://mariyangu.com/api/v1/mcp. Compatible clients handle OAuth sign-in and authorization automatically.
Permissions requested
The consent screen lists the exact permissions the assistant asks for. Mari Yangu only turns on tools that both that grant and your workspace role allow.
- Read access: view expenses, categories, merchant suggestions, organization analytics, exports, and reports.
- Write access: create, edit, submit, and delete expenses, and create and delete reports. Actions that delete data are marked so you can confirm them first.
You can disconnect an assistant in Mari Yangu settings at any time. Disconnecting removes its access without deleting your workspace data.
Example prompts
- “Show my largest expenses from last month and summarize the top merchants.”
- “Find the most recent receipt from Northwind Cafe and show its line items.”
- “Create a mileage expense for today’s client visit and show me the result before submitting it.”
- “Use create_report to prepare a report for this month, then check it until it is ready.”
A new workspace may not have any reports yet. Start with create_report. After it finishes, the assistant can list, view, download, or delete that report.
Known limits
- List and search requests return at most 50 rows, and tables show at most 20 rows.
- Each tool response is capped at 16 KB. Long text fields are capped at 4 KB.
- Receipt images must be uploaded in the Mari Yangu app. The integration cannot accept image or report files.
- Assistants cannot approve, reject, unlock, or send expenses to connectors.
- Exports too large for a tool response return a clear error instead.
Privacy and data handling
Every tool request is checked and limited to the workspace you chose during setup. Mari Yangu never shares another workspace’s data, and it never returns secrets or internal debug data. Your AI provider processes the conversation and tool results under its own terms and privacy policy.
Read the Privacy Policy to learn how Mari Yangu stores, keeps, and deletes data, and which providers process it.
Support
If a connection, sign-in, or tool fails, email support@mariyangu.com. Tell us which assistant you connected, what you tried, and roughly when the error happened. Never send API keys, OAuth tokens, or receipt images by email.
